CLOSET PRAYERS | Learn How to Pray
Learn How to Pray
Matt 6:5-8
And when thou prayest, thou
shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the
synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou
prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray
to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall
reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not
vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard
for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like
unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask
him.
Thayers Lexicon says that a closet is an inner chamber or secret room.
Re- Matthew 6:6 thy closet
/ Prayer is the most secret intercourse of the soul with God, and as it were
the conversation of one heart with another. The world is too profane and
treacherous to be of the secret. We must shut the door against it: endeavour to
forget it, with all the affairs which busy and amuse it. Prayer requires
retirement, at least of the heart. Adam Clarke's Commentary,
Matt 14:23
And when he had sent the
multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening
was come, he was there alone.
Mark 1:35-36
And in the morning, rising up
a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place,
and there prayed.
36 And Simon and they that
were with him followed after him.

RAVENHILL- NO CHURCH IS STRONGER THAN ITS PRAYER MEETING
· Prayer is not about what it does to or for God. It is about RELATIONSHIP. We are not a gimme gimme people. Prayer is about what it does for us.
